FAQS

Find the answers here!

DO YOU SHIP?   HOW DO I GET MY BIRDS? DO YOU SELL LAYING HENS?

We do not ship.  We meet for orders at locations along the Front Range, (east) Castle Rock/South Parker and north of Colorado Springs (3 locations, Franktown, NW of Black Forest, & Elbert, CO).   We do not have enough to ship, appropriate packaging is expensive, packing and working with USPS is time consuming, and shipping is hard on the birds.  USPS shipping is not reliable. We do NOT sell full-grown hens.

CAN I PREPAY A DEPOSIT TO HOLD MY BIRDS? HOW DO I PLACE AN ORDER? WHAT IS YOUR MINIMUM?

COMING SOON FOR 2025! A non refundable deposit will be required as we reduce our breeds and quantities in 2025. We may not hatch a breed if we do not receive any pre-orders, or we may hatch more of a breed with significant preorders.  This helps us focus on breeds!  Hatches will be all weeks in March 2025 as we have found that is the best month for chicks to thrive.  Batches for spring 2025 will be more limited as we pair down and limit our breeds. Please email lceggfarm@gmail.com for more info or watch the website updates! There is no guarantee that hatches will occur so a breed that does not hatch in and order will be refunded from your order (or not charged), or replaced with another similar breed of your choice (if avail).  The remainder of the order is still valid and will be filled. Our minimum is 2 birds per order.

CAN I VISIT THE FARM AND LOOK AT THE BIRDS?

To help our birds thrive, we are strict on our biosecurity measures. Birds are in a building until adopted to prevent interaction with other fowl including flying overhead birds. We wear special shoes in and are careful not to track anything in!  Diseases can spread via shoes & handling the birds causes stress.  For the breeds of chicks we hae, most look alike, so we box chicks for you!  We like to think this is a win-win for you & the birds!

IS THERE A NO ROOSTER GUARANTEE?  DO YOU OFFER LIFE INSURANCE ON CHICKS?

While the birds are vent sexed for gender, no one can provide 100% accuracy without a DNA test.  Industry standard for vent sexing is 90% for most, and 80% for Ameraucanas, and crested breeds.  Plan for the possibility of a Rooster if you do not select autosexing breeds.  Roosters are wonderful flock protectors and keep order in the flock. If you absolutely cannot chance a Roo, order autosexing breeds (e.g. Cream Crested Legbars, Welbars, 55 Flowery Hens, etc) where we can tell male/female by feather color, or adopt a full grown hen (we do not carry).   Due to strict biosecurity, I cannot take ANY birds back.  Note that Ameraucanas and Crested Breeds (French Hens, Appenzeller's, Crevecoeurs) are more difficult to vent sex as chicks hence the 80% accuacy rate.  Our live guarantee is already built in to your chicks, meaning, you will receive "started" chicks at 1-2 weeks old, well beyond any timeframe life guarantee offered by other farms where you receive 2 day old chicks.  In a sense, our life insurance is built in b/c we do not sell day old chicks!

DO YOU HAVE AUTOSEXING BREEDS?  Yes.  Please see our bird descriptions under "shop"  Autosexing means you can tell male from female at hatch baed on feather color. The most notable autosexing breeds are Cream Legbars (blue eggs), 55 Flowery Hens (XL white eggs), Welbars (dark/speckled eggs), Bielefelder (pink-brown eggs)

DO YOU SELL DAY OLD CHICKS?  No. The youngest chicks we offer are 1 week old.  This is the trickiest timeframe for chicks, so we do this part for you. Chicks that reach this stage are viable and have been well-started.

DO YOU OFFER ANY DISCOUNTS?  Yes. Please see package pricing.  Also 12+ chicks less than 6 weeks old we may offer a bigger discount.  Please contact us.

DO YOU VACCINATE FOR MAREK'S DISEASE?  Yes. Birds are vaccinated.  https://amerpoultryassn.com/2022/07/mareks-disease-vaccination/
