The fluffy feathers and coco coloring of the Chocolate Orpington are stunning.  They are slow to feather up (10 wks before coop ready--a result of the chocolate gene), but they are well worth the wait as they have one of the BEST temperaments out of all the breeds, making them an excellent choice for any flock.  They are known to be great with families and children. Because of their sweet and gentle disposition, Orpingtons make great pets, and should not be placed with more assertive breeds or hens.  Chocolate Orpingtons lay approx 160 creamy brown eggs per year (3-5/week).
