***VERY LIMITED*** Stunning and Rare Beauties!  The friendly & chatty Cream Brabanters!  These girls have surprised us with their egg laying capabilities and vigor. Although it is difficult to find them, they are worth adding to your flock if you are looking for a medium-sized hen that lays large eggs and has lots of personality!  That said,  Brabanters do better with gentle companions, and they should not be placed in a flock with assertive breeds or hens (e.g. Rhode Islands, etc). The Brabanter is a very old Dutch breed from the 1500s from the region of Brabant (between Belgium and Netherlands).  The distinguishing characterististic is their feather crest and beard (or muff). Like the Spitzhauben, the crest is similar to a mohawk, in that it stands straight up. Brabanters are good foragers, they are good at flying and climbing. They are not known for going broody. The Brabanter is one of the few cold hardy breeds that lay large white eggs.  Hens’ average 200+ medium to large white eggs a year!

They are not yet recognized by the American Poultry Association.  Weight: Hen 3.5-4.5 lbs
