Welcome to the wonderful Croad Langshen, the Golden Retreiver of chickens!  These large hens are wonderfully docile and friendly and mine likes to be pet. These hens are fabulous and should be in everyones flock, and make terrific family pets and are good with children.  The added bonus is that some hens (only some) have a beautiful pink, lavender or plum bloom over them (no predicting which these will be).  The eggs that have the bloom hold their unique color but the bloom can fade over a couple days.  Not all eggs will have a bloom over them, and some will be light brown. The bloom can fade as the season goes on. These girls are very rare hardy with amazing temperments. Croad Langhans can withstand harsh cold and hot temperatures. The hens lay approx 180 Large eggs per year.   The hens are decent winter layers.  Due to their mild temperments, despite their large size, they can be placed in any mixed flock (except maybe bantams b/c they might step on them!)  Try this wonderful breed.
