The Exchequer is not only beautiful but a PROLIFIC layer of  large snow white eggs, about 280/yr.  Exchequers excel at foraging for food, always on the search. Like all leghorns, they are a light breed from Italy.  This (sub) variety is quite rare, characterized by black and white splash of feathers. The word 'Exchequer' is the name of the British Department responsible for revenue, and this breed got thier name from the revenue their owner's got from selling their eggs. This breed can glean much of their diet from pasture, if allowed. Exchequers are very inquisitive, always coming for treats, but dont expect your exchequer to be a lap chicken, they are far too busy for that!  They are NOT prone to broodiness.  These girls do great on free range. The hens have  combs, so don't think your pullet is a Roo.  Picture above of the (mostly) white Rooster. Laying maturity 17-20 weeks. They do fine with the summer heat. You can expect your hens to lay 5 snow white eggs/week(!) in season.
