This variety of Maran is still rare, which is a shame.  The beautiful feathers of the Golden Marans are crossed with dark and light golden bars.  Like most marans, these girls have feathered legs and give dark eggs. These a girls are a friendly, non-assertive breed and do great in mixed flocks and are known to be friendly with people. These girls are very sweet and one of the prettiest of Marans.  Everyone loves their Golden Maran. You can get lovely dark speckles on the eggs of the Golden Maran!  (some hens)   Your hens will lay around 4-6 brown eggs/wk in season (approx 250 eggs/yr)! Note that the lovely golden coloring can take 20 weeks to come in.
