This variety of Maran is still rare even though they are full of fabulous traits and are really beautiful.  The beautiful feathers of the Golden Marans express with the golden feather on the head, neck, and chest.   Like most marans, these girls have feathered legs and give dark eggs, and this sub-breed of Maran is known to produce speckles on their eggs! (not all hens). These girls are a sweet, docile breed and do great in mixed flocks and are known to be friendly with people, and are suitable for children. These girls are very sweet and one of the prettiest of Marans.  Your hens will lay around 4-6 brown eggs/wk in season (approx 250 eggs/yr- thats alot)! Note that the lovely golden feather coloring can take 20 weeks to come in.
